Attacus【yonakuni Silkworm】

今年もアタカス（与那国蚕）が入荷してきました。

アタカスはインドネシアで採集された野蚕ですが、

日本の与那国島に生息し沖縄県の天然記念物に指定された「与那国蚕」と同種類の蚕です。

学術名がアタカス（attacus atlas）として登録されています。

アタカスの語源はヨーロッパ諸語で「巨大」であることからギリシャ神話のアトラースと言われ、中国では羽根の文様から「皇帝の様な蛾」を意味する、皇蛾取締役呼ばれています。

アタカスは一般的な野蚕糸が繊維が太く「ゴワゴワ」しているのに対して、柔らかいのが特徴とされています。

It is a silkworm of the same type as "Yonaguni Silkworm" that lives in Yonaguni Island in Japan and was designated as a natural monument in Okinawa Prefecture.

Academic name is registered as Attacus (attacus atlas).

The etymology of Attacus is called 'Atagas' in Greek mythology because it is "gigantic" in European languages, and in China it is called Emperor Board, meaning "emperor-like moth" from the wing pattern.

Attacas is characterized by being soft, while the general silkworm silk thread is thick and thick "silky".
